What's the best way to organise a walk-in-robe?

Great news, fashion lovers: many of the new two-storey houses by apg homes have a luxurious master suite, complete with a large walk-in-robe.

For any fan of fashion, having a spacious walk-in wardrobe is often the ultimate dream. Carrie Bradshaw, the famous fictional character played by movie star Sarah Jessica Parker, is known for saying "I like my money right where I can see it ... hanging in my closet."

The creme de la creme of such a walk-in-robe, though, is stepping inside and easily being able to identify where everything is located. This comes down to one simple golden rule: organisation

Here are some top tips for managing the space in style.

1) Declutter by donating or getting rid of unused items

A great tip for this is to hang your clothes with the hooks pointing towards you. After you have worn it, put it back with the hook pointing the correct way, away from you. After a few months, discard the items with the unchanged hooks. Simple!

2) Add shelf organisers

These will keep your folded clothes separate and neatly stacked.

3) Use a shoe stand

Rather than toss your shoes onto the ground, keep them in tidy rows on a shoe stand. Your favourite pairs could also be displayed on higher shelves. Better Homes and Gardens notes that the average woman owns 40 pairs of shoes, so a system to manage their storage won't go afoot!

4) Store out-of-season clothing elsewhere

All of the apg homes designs come with ample storage cupboards with sliding doors, so use these strategically for keeping clothes not appropriate for current Perth weather. This minimises congestion and overcrowding in your walk-in-robe, so every time you step inside, you feel like you're entering a glamorous retail store!

5) Colour coordinate

It may sound borderline OCD, but it can save you plenty of time searching for items when you're in a rush to head out into the Perth sunshine!
