3 reasons to build a double storey home

If you've been looking at double storey home designs, you may be overwhelmed by the selection of house plans. Depending on the size of your family and your own needs, it may seem difficult to pick a design.

However, there are plenty of benefits to building up when creating a new home. From squeezing in extra bedrooms to maximising your yard space, there are numerous reasons to go double.

1. Accommodate your family

Whether you've got kids on the way or your family's already growing at a quick pace, having enough bedrooms may be bearing on your mind.

Ensuring you've got plenty of bedrooms - and perhaps a guest room - is easier when you go double. Many apg homes have a master bedroom on the ground floor, plus three more bedrooms on the second level. Other designs have all the bedrooms on the top level.

2. Maximise your backyard

Whether you've invested in a narrow lot or a larger block, you may have considered the potential for entertaining outdoors.

Adding an al fresco area to your property can boost its value, as well as being a practical addition. When you build a double storey property, you can spread your living spaces and bedrooms across two levels, giving you more leeway to create a spacious al fresco area in your yard.

Stained timber decking adds timeless elegance, while an outdoor heater will make the area super cosy.

3. Consider the value

You can often get more bang for your buck when building a double storey home, compared to a single storey property.

Given you'll have to purchase a lot either way, the additional costs of going a level higher are worth it in the grand scheme of things.

If you want to enjoy your property in the years to come, settling down in a property with ample space could be a smart move.
