Home Builders Perth: apg homes

All up appeal

The Chelmsford double storey display from APG Publication: Sunday Times HOME Magazine
Writer: Paula Aubin
Section: Build under $450,000
Date: 18th January, 2009

If it's true our home reflects our lifestyle, then the Chelmsford by APG Homes shows us just how much we have to enjoy.

Whether we're relaxing by the pool, watching a blockbuster movie, escaping to a resort style bathroom, rustling up a Jamie Oliver taste sensation of throwing some steaks and snags on the barbecue, this display is the whole package.

Dressed to impress, the outdoor area is one of the stars of the show.

APG has shown buyers how extending the standard alfresco can create a huge area for entertaining.

Flanked by a 9m pool, the area has been kitted out in the display to illustrate how outdoor rooms can be created for eating, cooking and relaxed entertaining.

Sliding doors open up to join the alfresco to the everyday living areas, with a large kitchen, dining and living section stretching across the back of the house.

A corner window ensures maximum views of the sparkling blue pool.

Anchoring the design of the open-plan living space is the impressive kitchen which has contrasting light and dark tones for contemporary impact.

A soft grain-effect finish has been used on the cupboards and drawers, including the six super-size pot drawers, as well as on the laminate panels backing the island bench.

Built-in cupboards surround the fridge/freezer recess to provide even more storage.

Add stainless steel appliances, Essa Stone bench tops, a soft-close drawer system and a breakfast bar and this kitchen is geared to handle everything from snacks to dinner parties.

Anybody who has catered for a crowd will appreciate the extra work area offered by the bench top in the adjoining laundry.

With all four bedrooms in the Chelmsford upstairs, the remainder of the ground floor consists of a generous media room, powder room and double-door linen cupboard, plus a sizeable study.

Located just inside the double-door entry, the study would make an ideal home office as business visitors would not need to venture into the main part of the home.

The upper storey has been divided into two distinct zones separated by an activity room that can be for study, play and relaxation.

To the front of the home, the hotel-worthy master suite features a dressing room that runs behind the bedhead wall.

With plenty of room for reading chairs, the bedroom is a welcoming place to take time out. There is a large ensuite bathroom with shower, twin vanities and bath.

The addition of the balcony expands the room further and presents the chance to capitalise on views.

On the other side of the activity area, are the three minor bedrooms each time built-in wardrobes and easy access to the second bathroom.

There is also a large walk in linen cupboard on this floor.

Curb appeal is assured thanks to the combination of feature brick, render, tiled roof and feature planter.

The display home is shown with an optional third-car garage.
