Understanding your working drawings

So you’ve received your contract documentation from your builder, congratulations this is an exciting step.

Within that documentation you will find a copy of your detailed drawings, these are called ‘working drawings’, illustrations of what your house will look like.

For those of us who have children, we know that kids rule. From the time they are born, to the time they leave home for good, kids rule. Every decision about the family home and the way we live is based around them and their changing needs and wants. Kids rule. The lifecycle of our homes and the family’s accommodation needs revolve around our children. Their schools, their friends, their hobbies and interests and their ever expanding social networks dictate how we live and interact with each other within our own homes.

Buying an old home for renovation can seem like a great idea at the time and no doubt some renovations and extensions work out really well. Sometimes we just don’t have the budget to build right away and a quick makeover is required to make the home more liveable while we save enough money to do the job properly. The trick is to work out how far to go and where to spend the money. The thing to remember when considering any renovation is that no matter what you do, the home is still old and sooner or later, the original problems will resurface.
