Solar passive design is all about using your local climate to help heat and cool your home. Using the sun to warm it, and breezes to cool it. Stopping heat from escaping in winter, and helping it escape in summer. We do this by designing your house around the sun’s position through the seasons, the prevailing breezes and the average local temperature. So you use less energy and save money.
The Australian Government now requires a minimum level of solar passive design in every new home. It uses a star rating system, where each home is rated out of 10 (the more stars, the better the design – less energy is needed to cool and heat the home). All apg homes boast a minimum 6-star energy rating.
